Obituary of Thomas F Yarnell Pioneer Citizen of Anadarko
Thomas F Yarnell an old settler near Anadarko died at his home two miles southeast of the city at 11 o'clock from pneumonia after a week’s illness. Born in Indiana forty nine years ago he moved from Kansas seventeen years ago with Indian traders and helped launch the First Memorial Bank. A stock raiser farmer and dairyman, he built a comfortable competence and belonged to the Women of the World. He leaves a wife a son and a daughter and two brothers. Funeral services will be at First M I church conducted by Rev Father L Farrington and interment in the city cemetery. He carried a $1000 insurance and the lodge note stands for a monument. Florence Ashmead visits Granemont today.

Jan 21 a battalion of fifty soldiers raided the Bad Land district of Columbus. A mob of about five hundred blacks and whites fired on troops. many injured. Half the soldiers were in custody at the guard house. Major Glenn notified the War Department. Regulary and police squads sought rioters. some arrested and detained in penitentiaries or guard houses. The monthly report by Fred L Wenner secretary of the territorial board for re aging school lands shows December receipts totaling 87929 26 with allocations to common school food college fund public school building fund common school identity fund Greer county section 19 fund and Greer county section 33 fund. Expenses for the month were 1001 02 and 24550 were paid to the territorial treasurer leaving funds on hand at 1 1 1907 for various school funds totaling 211452 06. Transfers during the month yielded 410 transfers at 1 each indicating 410 leases changed hands in December.
