Theodore G. Oelke, deputy county judge clerk, and Miss Kara Baker were married Thursday at the Methodist parsonage by Rev. Farrington. Only family and a telegraph office manager attended. The couple will reside in the Bath addition residence prepared by the groom.
Sealed bids will be received at the office of the City Clerk in Anadarko Oklahoma until five o clock January 10 1910 for securing the banks of the river below the dam according to specifications on file in the City Clerk's office. The city reserves the right to reject any and all bids. C McKnight City Clerk.
Reports say Mrs. Mattie Shirley a former Max Goldman clerk who owned Carnegie property married weeks ago. Her husband allegedly pressed purchases including an automobile then disappeared, leaving Mrs. Shirley with her aged Purcell father. James Ross Pioneer Telephone in Chickasha visited town. ex Anadarko resident and band member.
The Christian church Ladies Aid met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs Myers home with 40 members present. Guests enjoyed two guessing contests including a shadow picture game and a wish envelope activity, followed by sandwiches, pickles, coffee and homemade brandy. The event was praised as very successful.
The Democrat proposes naming the new town Plum in honor of a respected citizen. It lauds Mr. Plum for his wise firm impartial leadership as chief magistrate and public spirit, calling Plum the most appropriate designation for the new town.
The piece is praised as high class comedy with musical numbers and lively specialties. It will be staged at the Opera House on Thursday January 6.

The History Club met at Miss Julia Penn's home on Fast Broadway Wednesday evening with Miss Grace Rich as art leader and Miss Eva Area on Highways and Byways. They discussed Alexandria and Cicero by Breasted, and commission government. The group planned to meet next Wednesday with Miss Grace Richart and Miss Mabel Gibbs leading sessions on Egyptian Architecture and Highway Byways in forthcoming numbers.
Mr J H Braoendle of Iowa has purchased the Harness and Saddle ry business from W B Johnson on Sixth Street. He aims to settle permanently in Adarko, join local interests, and help town and county prosperity. His advertisement in the Democrat stands as proof of enterprising intent.
The Main Street Grocery and Meatmon advertise a complete stock of clean fresh groceries and a well arranged meat line. Alfred Wells, home from the Chirocco schools, has fever and cannot return to studies.
The community notes a Monday school start on Jan 3, a not very successful dance, a large New Year wedding for Miss Ethel Salyers and Mr Arthur Riley, and several residents moving or visiting. Ed Tubbs buys the Tom Bumpall house and plans to move there. a baby boy is born to Mr and Mrs Lamb. others travel, visit Missouri, or recover from illness.
Regular meeting of the Commercial Club is scheduled for tomorrow night with installation of new officers. Important business on the agenda. Everyone is urged to attend. L. M. Spivey, Secretary.
Mrs Thos Lytle and her son Thomas return to Guthrie after several days visiting her parents Mr and Mrs J Oldham.

Jerry Fowler fell through thin ice while skating on a frozen lake and clung to a tree. Mrs Vaughn alerted a nearby man and AJ Stevens Luther and Lee Dayin joined a boat rescue, bringing him to shore where he was warmed and revived. He narrowly escaped serious harm and will likely wait for safer ice conditions.

Jake Pratt fell on the sidewalk Monday and broke his left leg just above the ankle. A physician was summoned and the injured member set. Although painful he is getting along nicely.
F A Whortenby, superintendent for the Pioneer Telephone Company of Oklahoma City, was in the city on business for the company Wednesday. A A Brunk, formerly of the Anchorage Carriage and Saddlery Co., has left that firm and opened a Seconds Hand store at Broadway 114. Brunk invites customers to buy, sell, or rent items, specializing in sewing machines and guns.
