John Walker and wife were out when a 22 rifle fired by Mrs Walker discharged striking Walker in the right leg near Red Rock. Doctors are locating the bullet. The entry notes other local items including Rev Ingold’s meeting, moves to Hydro, and a found pocket book at the A H S Auditorium.
Rock Island engineer B. W. Andrews died from contact with a live electric light wire in his barn near Chichastin Oklahoma as he apparently tried to turn off the light. Authorities note a loose socket and worn insulation near the connection. The wet ground completed the circuit through his left side.
The Military Girls Wednesday night with admission reduced to 50 cents. Secure tickets and reserve seats at Stephensons. J. O. Oleson of Chickasha, Anadarko visitor, Monday. General Francisco Villa leads a 20 000 strong rebel force toward Chihuahua and plans a March on Mexico City with Carranza. Southern rebels reportedly to join, threatening President Huerta who may flee to avoid capture or execution.
The Lawton lands sale concluded with 27 remaining tracts sold, fetching higher prices than earlier rounds. Prices ranged from 1.25 to 4.40 per acre, with several Lawton residents among buyers and Judge Witten and Hugh Scott departing for home after the event.
Reports describe a fierce struggle in Mazatlan with Huerta forces victorious at Tampico and in full possession. Villa holds Chihuahua under a despotic rule though facing federal pressure as Torreon is retaken by federal troops. Huerta says 100000 troops are available.
A local shop displays a new shipment of folders and cards inviting customers to view and invest in pictures and supplies. The Silver Leaf Shoe Shop offers five repair work classes or items. A note lists names Miss Ella, Jennie, Lula Markman visiting relatives in Illinois. Also advertised are a driving horse and buggy, a Surrey with harnesses and extra shafts for sale, contact Mrs Brassington in Anadarko.
Red Cross stamps are sold at Gfly drug stores and Costner book store to raise funds for tuberculosis prevention. Mrs. do Kk White president of the home ela leads the campaign with volunteers donating time. Stamps cost one cent and are used as seals on Christmas packages to support the National Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis.
C W Karnes, principal of Binger schools, in city for a pleasant call on the Democrat. He plans to seek the county superintendent position next year, urging his fourteen years of experience as qualification. Also notes piano sale, lost ring, visitors Ida and Ethel Pragher, and Miss Jewel Straight ill with appendicitis but improving. Bunstein family relocate to Abpetone.
The Presbyterian Church held its annual praise service with strong attendance. The Women’s Missionary Society led the program, with Mrs. Chas. K. Hume giving a talk on China and Mrs. Wm. McFadyen speaking on Home Missions. The young choir provided music and Howard Fair sang a solo. A generous silver offering was collected and all left pleased with the evening.
