Separate trials sought in Miller murder case

Separate trials were requested in the state case against Ira Cooper and Will Maggard for the December murder of Marion Miller at Tony Gressick’s home. The court granted the separation and county attorney Pruett chose to hear Cooper first. Gressick testified Cooper and two Mexicans visited that afternoon, Cooper had whiskey, and after gunfire and a confrontation, Miller was found dead. Additional witnesses described the scene and lantern light near the body, suggesting further inquiry. A license was issued in county court for the marriage of Hiram Oggs and Ethel Faucher of Sickles.
