Ernest Maul, wanted for horse stealing in Caddo County, escaped Sheriff Bakwe during a transfer on a crowded Oklahoma City train. The prisoner leaped from the rear platform near Anadarko as the train neared the Presbyterian Mission, rolling down the embankment and vanishing into Brushy bottoms. Deputies halted the train and pursued, but the fugitive remains at large.
