Report from Baghdad says Lieut Otto Koennecke arrived there tonight after leaving Angora for Basra. he will press on Thursday. Paris dispatch counters earlier Angora claim that Koennecke left Ankara last Sunday. Anatolia News Agency says a misstatement occurred and another plane departed for Eskihissar.

New York Sept 27 directors of United States Steel postponed selecting a new chairman after Elbert H Gary. The meeting produced no election, with expectations the decision will wait until J P Morgan returns from Scotland next month. President James A Farrell noted higher steel volumes and firmer business conditions.
St Paul aviator E W Speed Holman, who had left Portland with a promise to return soon, won the $1 007 first prize in the Class A Spokane Portland race. He arrived two minutes after E E Ballough of Chicago and finished ahead by 27 seconds, with Ballough taking $500 for second.
