Police fire on Sinn Fein homes as “Black and Tans” sweep Irish town streets. Shots are fired and bombs thrown amid clashes while authorities burn properties. A separate item notes 20 000 legionnaires marching at a Cleveland meeting representing France England Belgium and the Rhine.
In Trim Meath a large group of armed men raided the town after the police barracks blaze. Homes and the mineral water factory were burned as Sinn Feiners are targeted. Black and Tans reportedly led the attack with machine guns and bombs. Countess Markievicz is said to be in Dublin.
About 20 000 ex servicemen marched in Cleveland drawing an estimated 300 000 spectators including 50 000 visitors.
