Pictures by Photo Shop Butte depict federal officers and Butte police at a Highlands cabin south of Butte as they wreck a moonshine operation. The center shows officers locating the entrance to the plant and the trap door uncovered after digging. A dynamite charge had not yet exploded when the image was taken.
Oklahoma City September 26. Lower house members dispersed by National Guard a noon march faced martial law as they prepared new moves to challenge Gov Walton. Leaders claimed the house was convened and now in recess awaiting presiding officer call while legal committees draft court actions.
In Berlin a presidential decree titled restoration of public security limits freedom of the press and assembly. It transfers executive power to the defense minister, military commanders, and civil commissioners with harsh penalties up to death. Dr. Von Kahr named general commissioner for Bavaria and may proclaim martial law if needed, though none officially declared.
Berlin reports the proclamation by President Ebert and cabinet members condemning the French and Belgian occupation of the Ruhr and Rhineland. It cites mass displacement of over 130,000 Germans and the loss of individual liberty, noting oppression since January 11. Continued on Page 2.
Ba ward Stinson piloted an all metal airplane with motion pictures of the Japanese earthquake, landed at Curtiss field Mineola N Y and planned to exhibit in New York tonight. The films were shot in Yokohama by an American film firm representative.
Commanding officers of vessels following their leader aboard the Delphy argued they could not be held culpable for the destroyer doctrine after the Hondā rocks incident. Dr Edward W Buckley 63 a supreme physician and Knights of Columbus board member died in a St Paul hospital after a long illness. He served in France during World War I with the Knights of Columbus and was made a chevalier of the Legion of Honor by Marshal Foch. In 1921 he led a K of C TB survey commission for a national convention.
Helena September 26 A drizzly day limited attendance at the Montana state fair yet hundreds still attended. Rain forced trimming of races riding events and carnival attractions while jockeys including Fanny Sperry Steele and Jim Galen delivered notable rides. Race results: Blazer first Orphan Boy second Dick Biggs third in 66% seconds. Maude Wilson first Masie Barber second Vess Hardee third in 1 02. Master Jim first Kid Miner second 1 35. Mrs Grover Gilbert won the ladies relay with Mrs Floyd Kouk and Mrs Fanny Sperren’s relay taking second.
