The board approved the superintendent Douglass recommendations and two staff members were taken from the waiting list. The action expands staffing at the high school with ten new positions and confirms personnel changes.
Acting on Superintendent Douglass recommendations the Butte school board appointed Ruth Kennedy Theresa Reichle Burnie Rice and George A Rye as high school instructors. Kennedy and Reichle transfer from elementary posts while Rice and Rye come from the waiting list. Kennedy to commercial Reichle to history and English Rice to English and Rye to manual training.
In Seattle a jury pool of eleven, seven men and four women, was seated for the James E. Mahoney murder case. The defendant is charged with killing his elderly wealthy bride whose body was reportedly found in a trunk on Lake Union. One seat remained vacant, both sides hold 15 peremptory challenges, and extra time is anticipated to finish selecting the panel. A special venire of 100 was summoned to begin court.
Extra Session of Congress ten convenes with a full program for the remainder of the session. Proposed measures include tax legislation, peace treaties, and an anti beer bill listed among priorities. The outline signals broad legislative activity ahead.

Gapolis dispatch reports a laborer named UConnor, 45, killed when his foot was caught in moving train equipment here tonight. The incident occurred after a trolley or vehicle brake failure caused the man to be dragged into the track area. Local authorities are investigating the accident and identifying the exact cause of the fatal mishap.
Aweociated Press reports three Monroe family members William 45 Mary 42 and a younger daughter found dead in their Dowagiac Michigan home. Neighbors say the family had not been seen since Saturday night. A heavy nail studded club was found near the bed and authorities suspect they were killed in their sleep. The younger daughter remained semi conscious with a chance of recovery.
A Chevrolet owned by Mrs. A. R. McLeod backed from the curb on Main near the Connell store and rammed six large plate glass windows at Siegel clothing, causing more than $1,000 in damage. No merchandise was harmed. she left the scene and drove away under her own power.
The administration indicated Secretary Hoover will act as spokesman at the opening of the national unemployment center meeting in Washington on Monday. The cabinet discussed business revival measures and potential recommendations to stabilize industry, dollar, labor, materials, and railroad issues as experts prepare to advise on returning national industry to normal.

William F Wiley vice president and general manager of Boone County Coal Corp told a senate committee that fear of 300 secret indictments filed by a grand jury has caused slack work. At Indianapolis Sept 28 Associated Press Lewis urged miners to accept wage reductions and presented demands to be sent to operators as the United Mine Workers of America opened its biennial convention. Delegates voted to place miners’ demands before the convention and applauded efforts to win the Mingo county strike while denouncing critics in Washington state and Till.
