Labor Day Oration by J H Lowndes Maury in Butte
J H Lowndes Maury delivered the Labor Day address in Butte to a crowd in the grandstand at the ball park. He was succeeded by McNally who accepted a gift from organized labor, and Maury, a socialist candidate for associate justice of the Montana Supreme Court, invoked workers’ rights and attacked the Republicans, Democrats, and corporate power, urging workingmen to seize control of government to secure labor reforms.
