Charles C Ludwig a Renton rancher denies murdering Miguel Gomez and calls the case a frame up by former friend Jack Roche who allegedly wooed Ludwig's wife Roche reportedly told Ludwig's wife he would remove the husband Roche's statements and the warrant based on Roche's information. Ludwig will waive extradition to Montana for an early trial after returning from Seattle to face charges.
The Rev Dr S Hall Young 80 missionary and author died in Clarksburg West Virginia after stepping in front of an interurban car. He had been en route to a pioneer celebration at French Creek near Buckhannon and was Alaska's first missionary, spending over 30 years there.
The Army and Navy Journal will report that Hanford MacNider resigned as assistant secretary of war effective soon. The New York Herald Tribunewill say he denied submitting any resignation when seen at the Hotel Vanderbilt tonight.
Paving of the Butte approach to the Anaconda highway across the Binnard estate will start Tuesday. The state highway commission is also set to oil Lawler's road on the same day, the unpaved section of the Butte Anaconda highway. Oil for the work is being shipped from California and is expected in Butte Sunday or Monday. Maurice Kiley of Kiley & Lepp, the contracting firm, stated the paving is underway.
National Y M C A official Charles Puehler hails the Butte Y as unique in its boys work and local and national service. He cites its modern facilities eight years old with expansive growth, noting 37 new buildings previously and 42 under construction totaling 35 million dollars in new facilities. He cites army and navy Y ventures in San Francisco San Pedro Manila and Virginia with a combined value. Puehler will depart for Helena after two days in Butte and Anaconda.
President Coolidge may call a special Senate session this fall to resolve two contested seats held by James Smith of Illinois and James Ware of Pennsylvania after the campaign funds committee accused them of excessive expenditures. Thirteen young people died and two were seriously wounded in a blast at the San Martin fireworks plant in Buenos Aires. Victims are described as severely mutilated, making identification extremely difficult.
