Convincing fashion of national and state issues echoed from the speakers who followed his Anaconda speech. Hundreds of voters gathered to congratulate them after the meeting, and the pair departed by carriage for Anaconda to rest that night.
In Wilmington and various Maryland and Delaware towns Mr Bryan delivered lengthy speeches. He urged farmers to distrust trusts, supported an income tax, and challenged Republican fiscal policy. He commented on the Philippines and praised the flag, warning voters of corporate influence in elections.
Democratic candidate William J. Bryan toured eastern Maryland by boat and rail, addressing crowds in Claiborne Easton St. Michael's Preston Hurlock Vienna Salisbury and Berlin. He urged farmers to distrust Republican ties to trusts and warned against disenfranchising brown or black voters while appealing for support for the full Democratic slate.

C M Cotterman assistant superintendent of the railway mail service with San Francisco headquarters has been chosen as director general of posts in the Philippine islands to succeed F W Vaille. Cotterman brings long service experience on the North Pacific coast and Alaska. Salary is 4000 dollars yearly. Vaille resigns after two years in the post and will resume as assistant superintendent, expected back in January.
