Exchange Telegraph reports Lord Mayor MacSwiney at the point of death in Brixton Prison. Semi conscious at times he fails to recognize his wife who remains at his bedside. Doctors administer liquid nourishment amid protests by prisoners as relatives await the end.
Senator Henry L. Myers in Butte assails nonpartisan league aligned polices while urging defeat of Democratic state and congressional tickets. He supports Cox and Roosevelt for national offices and argues for League of Nations aid to Ireland, to a 2000 plus audience at the roadway theater.
A candidate seeks correction of what he calls untrue statements about his stance on the League of Nations. He argues publicity has misrepresented his position and requests accurate re presentation in public notices and debates.
Ohio Governor Cox repeats charges that Elihu Root misrepresented his League of Nations stance in his responses during the New Jersey campaign. He demands a retraction and accuses Root of drafting lengthy explanations to misstate Cox’s views on article 10.
Dr E B Craighead former state university president and New Northwest editor died at St Patrick hospital after an apoplexy strike while in his North Higgins office. Edwin Boone Craighead Jr was with him. funeral plans not announced. He had a long academic career across Missouri Mississippi South Carolina and Georgia with studies in Germany France and at Vanderbilt.
London reports Terence Mac Swiney lord mayor of Cork is delirious as prison authorities continue forced feeding. He is partly conscious at times and unable to recognize relatives, with delirium recurring and authorities stating he remains in a semi conscious state.
Hunters found the unidentified woman age about 30 in a clump of trees near West New Brighton Staten Island. A Manila string was tied about her neck and signs of struggle were visible on her face and hands. Her hat lay nearby and broken necklace pearls were scattered.
Postal estimates for the next Congress will not urge raising the 2 cent first class letter rate. Burleson plans to renew earlier proposals for a 1 cent local delivery rate, arguing that cutting local delivery from 2 cents to 1 cent would raise postal revenue.
Samuel Gompers, head of the AFL, assailed Governor Coolidge and his police commissioner for their handling of the Boston police strike. He charged they promoted law and order while backing a violent, deceptive response and warned of a Coolidge presidency amid a Harding victory.
Bozeman October 22. Governor of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank warns that the reserves should not be used for speculative purposes. He notes over 1,000,000 dollars loaned to aid production and urges banks to keep funds available to liquidate debts and support livestock, not to force loan calls that sacrifice breeding stock.
Indiana Oct 22 A federal judge K M Landis at the Indiana state teachers convention received an unsigned typewritten threat warning him to stop attacking radicals. He cited wartime radicals as causing American soldiers deaths in France and said he would continue opposing the socialist movement. The note was mailed to his hotel address.
San Francisco October 22 One third of the Pacific coast visible supply of fuel oil is exhausted and the remainder faces depletion unless hydro electric energy is substituted D M Folson former federal fuel oil administrator for the western states told the Commonwealth club here today
Franklin D. Roosevelt warned that Cox's prospects were growing in the western and middle western states. He said he had returned from the West with a belief that an overwhelming swing toward Cox was under way and that Upstate New York was starting to fall in line.
Miss Rosalind I Reynolds was shot twice by Carmila Ridoni, who, angered by a reprimand to her son, visited the school in Chicago today. Reynolds is expected to recover as Ridoni was arrested.

At Prospect Point Niagara Falls a man climbed the railing and was carried over the American Falls. He waved to spectators and cried Here’s where I leave you good bye. Police and bystanders searched the river for hours with no report of his fate.
George Stivers and Marcus Bassett, escapes from Sing Sing prison, were captured today in the foothills of the Kearsarge Mountains in Warner New Hampshire. They surrendered without resistance.
London reports show continued peace talks between government and miners leaders with no new developments. A railmen and miners meeting may propose delaying Sunday’s strike if no agreement by Saturday, while Underground, trams, and buses could halt if the rail strike goes ahead.
