In New York the Bryan welcome is billed as the most spectacular in presidential campaign history. A multi‑venue, multi‑meeting schedule centers on Madison Square Garden and Cooper Union with committee heads including Croker, Belmont, Guggenheimer, and Shepard coordinating events and speeches by William Jennings Bryan and Adlai Stevenson.

Leonard H. Imboden, once sentenced to 10 years for operating a "wild cat" bank, had his case dismissed after the state supreme court found insufficient evidence. Prosecutors yielded without new proof, noting prior ties to Dallas and Texas land boom schemes, and his alleged forgeries totaling $15,000 were not pursued.
Mrs. Effie 8 Hawkins a boarding house keeper filed a petition in bankruptcy in the United States District Court. Liabilities total 595118 with assets listed as none. Major creditors include Charles L Hutchinson 9000 James C Hutchins & Son 15000 Northern Trust Company 276000 all residents of Chicago where debts were contracted. Debts arose on promissory notes indorsed for her husband George Y Hankins.
Chicago council votes for municipal ownership of all gas and electric plants. Mayor Harrison to appoint a commission to draft a law for submission to the general assembly. A resolution caps gas price at 75 cents per 1,000 cubic feet after January first.
