Good Crops in Gallatin Some Damage by Frost
Special Correspondence of the Standard Bozeman October 11 reports from Gallatin valley ranches show grain thrashing yields exceed expectations despite frost damage to some late crops. W H H Ellis thrased spring wheat averaging 62 14 bushels per acre, with oats last year at 100 bushels per acre. Camp Creek reports winter wheat yields of 50 to 60 bushels per acre valued at around $1 per bushel. Farmers note labor costs 35 to 50 cents per hour plus board, and difficulty securing workers at those rates.
