Bulldog Tussle Ends With Police Trousers Torn
Patrolman Harvey Tucker attempted to arrest M. J. Burke on a wife beating charge near 340 East Broadway when Burke’s bulldogs attacked. One dog clamped Tucker’s trousers as he and the dog closed in, others joined in. Tucker and Driver Rube Gilbert fought the animals until Burke was jailed and Tucker’s trousers were repaired.

Butte Old Timer Lacroix Dies in Suicide at Ranch
Hermidas Lacroix a 61 year old French Canadian resident of Butte committed suicide at Richards ranch near Elliston last night. He borrowed a rifle, placed the muzzle in his mouth and fired. no motive given though friends say he was despondent. He owned a French Gulch ranch, later sold it and moved to Elliston. Body to be taken to Walsh's for funeral arrangements.
