Will of Mrs Kate Rudden Contest Alleged Undue Influence
A district court petition seeks to set aside the will of Mrs Kate Rudden alleging undue influence by Rev A R Coopman in its drafting. The will, dated Sept 27 1912, left mainly to Coopman and others with modest bequests to relatives, and named Coopman as executor. The challengers include Mrs Mary Daly and Michael J O’Farrell, with guardianship for underage relatives, and Judge Winston issued an order for Coopman to appear. The will reportedly directs all real and personal property to Coopman and includes gifts to relatives and St Paul’s church items. The case raises questions about the testator’s condition on her deathbed and the influence behind the document.
