In Portland, J A Finch shot and killed H Ralph B Fisher, chair of the Oregon State Bar grievance committee, after a dispute over reinstatement to practice. Fisher, 28, was shot twice in the head. Finch wrestled by Dr H F Leonard and Chester V Dolph, then taken to police.
Emory Pulver was tried in district court on a March holdup of Henry Cahill. Cahill testified Pulver identified him by voice and Pulver was shot in the stomach during the incident. Pulver claimed the gun discharged accidentally while he attempted to load it. Cahill and Dr. Bond testified to events surrounding the crime.
From the hull of the Panama Une Finance sunk by the Georgie on Thanksgiving day $190,000 in gold and silver carried to pay canal zone government employees was recovered. Packages papers and jewelry deposited by passengers were recovered along with three more bags of mail totaling 21 bags removed.
Salt Lake, Nov 28. The jury found Thomas Vance a Salt Lake junk dealer guilty of wife murder. The judge will pronounce sentence next Thursday. the case alleges years of brutal punishment and that Vance gave mercurial poison to hasten his wife’s death, leading to her hospital death on Dec 8.
Sister Vincent de Paul, a founder of the House of Providence in Vancouver, died at the age of about 94 after joining the Sisterhood in 1855. She arrived with several nuns and helped establish the early House of Providence in a log hut on the reservation, with Sister Blandica visiting two years ago to witness her full regalia.
In Paterson New Jersey on November 28 eight year old Andrew Schider led a game of follow my leader with a group of playmates atop an abandoned brewery chimney. He toppled after a cracked brick under his feet and died from multiple injuries witnessed by the gathering children.
