Fire chief reports suspension and sewer contract issues
Fire Chief Sanger announced the suspension of a department member for unbecoming conduct. Butler is accused of blowing up the sewer with dynamite. The suspension was sent to the fire and water committee. Al Saner, paving contractor for Utah Avenue and Arizona Street, claimed 13 percent of his contract for sewer work, and asked for the early start of paying work next spring. The council allowed the sewer payment and various city engineer estimates for contracted work.

Well Known Clerk Dies Unexpectedly
Frank Sharples a 24 year old grocery clerk for Evans and Congdon died at his home 915 Delaware street after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and his mother Joseph Sharples of 735 East Park Street. Sharples was a member of the clerks union. An odd aside advertises a clairvoyant adviser at 420 Phoenix offering pay after satisfaction.
