Paddy Rodgers alias a feared criminal known for years in Butte was captured after a dramatic night at Lois Chetberbis Drug Store on North Main Street. A gun battle left Rodgers’ partner and several Dreibelbis family members wounded as Rodgers fled toward the street and was later jailed after a chaotic pursuit and attempt to escape.
Special Dispatch to the Standard reports Ford Mahaney murder case in Roundup Montana with Elmer Hinton, a young man, chased by sheriffs and posses. Hinton fled toward Billings after striking Mahaney at his barn, taking his Winchester and six shooter. Mahaney, of Kansas City, leaves a widow and four children. Roundup citizens donate to aid the family.
In Nashville Tenn on Seventh Avenue North Robin Cooper son of Col Duncan R Cooper shot and killed editor Senator Carmack after a row over recent editorials. Carmack died at the scene. Robin was wounded in the shoulder and Col Cooper was taken to olive headquarters. The men involved were a farmer and a practicing attorney, each tied to political controversy.
In Washington the proposed tariff revision was debated at a conference today by Representatives Payne Dalyell Hill and Gaines, noted as leading Republican members of the Ways and Means Committee.
