The code commission cites Montana progress as backing findings while Cavanaugh Iver leads the house race. He becomes the sole Republican in the Silver Bow delegation. McLeod defeats Kelly by 402 votes in the statewide tally.
In Silver Bow county democratic candidates won all offices except sheriff one legislator seat and some local posts in South Butte township. Good Roads and state prohibition repeal measures gained large margins while a five mill levy for grade and high schools failed. State ticket favored Republicans over Democrats with Gaien and Holloway receiving more votes.
The Silver Bow county board of commissioners ordered major precinct consolidation trimming 18 precincts. They expect savings of at least 5 000 dollars every two years and note the primary election cost over 16 000 dollars. General election costs are not yet known but likely higher. Continued on Page 6.
In New York on November 3 the Democratic surge weakens Republican control of Congress. Democrats capture seven of nine Senate seats and gain 18 House seats, aided by insurgents. Governors flip in South Dakota and Colorado, while Oregon and Wyoming fall to Republicans. Several incumbents lose or hold seats across Kentucky Arizona Missouri Maryland and Oklahoma as the political map tilts in favor of Democrats.
The first of the Halts Mills trials begins four years after the killing of Rev Edward Wheeler Well and singer Miss Jean Millis. John J. Dixon testifies about Willie Stevens on the night of the murders and a potential alibi.
