Ruling of Police Commission Ends Butte Case
Helena May 24 Associate Justice Matthews of the supreme court granted the writ of prohibition in a long pending case to reinstate Butte policemen discharged for unfitness. The ruling blocks further district court action, dismisses Policeman Burns front appeal, and directs dismissal of the proceedings. The city attorney and mayor argued the city spent over 100000 in salaries while cases lingered. Officials noted how the decision may affect other reinstatement efforts and pending writs of certiorari.
