Chief of Police vows wholesale arrests of speeders
Chief Murphy warned yesterday that careless driving and traffic violations will trigger mass arrests. A second motorcycle officer will join today or tomorrow and patrols will cover afternoon and evening hours instead of eight hour shifts. Speeders on Arizona Street and Utah Avenue drew most complaints as three vehicles ran abreast from the depot. Two accidents were reported, one leaving a victim hospitalized with a broken shoulder blade. Police plan constant enforcement as mobile traffic increases on main streets.
