Industrial commission extended to Oct 31 1601 with 122300 for expenses. total 65003370. president may hire an architect to plan White House enlargement and immigration agency changes to Chinese exclusion laws are noted.
Owen Fitzpatrick an elderly bricklayer faced mob justice after attempting to assault a five year old girl near Sisters' academy in Missoula. A rescue by the mother, officer McGregor, and a crowd of railroad workers prevented the lynching as Fitzpatrick was jailed. He claimed no harm but authorities planned a warrant next morning.
The imperial council of the Myetic Shrine completed its 12th annual meeting in Washington on May 2. Kansas City was chosen as the area where the tribes shall eat for next year and June 12 was fixed as the dates. Tonight President and Mrs. McKinley hosted a special reception at the White House for the visiting Shriners.

London reports Lord Hoberts dispatch from May 2% describing Boer troops fleeing after night fighting near the Ithendster river. British scouts found entrenched Boer positions on the riverbank and feared an attack as forces moved across the Rhenoster to threaten the enemy’s right rear.
