The Sacred Heart church fair in Butte, run by the Indies, closed last night. Nearly $10,000 was raised to fund a new parish building and parochial school facilities near the church. The event drew massive crowds, with many items sold including prizes from dolls to a piano, a diamond ring, and a brass bed.
The event saw strong turnout and brisk purchasing as booths emptied early. Winners of contests were announced but publishing was delayed by postal authorities. Ladies in charge received praise for a successful fair amid evening noise and celebration.
Butte high school prepares for a big ball game against Helena scholastics this Saturday afternoon. After a 24 to 2 win in 12 innings earlier this month, the Miners seek revenge with coach J. G. Macmathen guiding practice. The rooting squad is led by Football Coach Steve Furman.
Livingston May 22 A shooting contest for the Brownlee medal held by diligent Canfarr of Livingston will be held at the Livingston Gun club grounds north of the city next Sunday. Experts from Butte Anaconda Bozeman and Billings will attend. Akard the world renowned rifle shot will perform an exhibition after the contest.

Helena May 22 The General Land Office informs Surveyor General Cone that the Blackfeet reservation will be surveyed under the Geological Survey with a topographic map prepared. The American Unitarian Association elected Samuel A. Eliot of Cambridge Massachusetts as president and Horace Davis of San Francisco as vice president in Boston on May 22. The vote highlighted leadership from both coasts and sets the direction for the organization.
