Copper stock prices drifted lower with many declines of about two points or more. Opening quotes rose to the day’s high but the market faded, sending shares such as Amalgamated and Anaconda down while brokers expressed mixed views on future direction amid possible short covering and bullion-sector activity.
Special Dispatch to the Standard from Helena reports a strike of a large body of ore in the Silver King mine at Lumagulch. At a depth of 15 feet a drift found highly mineralized quartz seam with silver in a foul vein. The Silver Wing extends the Free Coinage area, a noted producer.

The father, a member of the firm, was engaged to be married to a young school teacher.
