W Mayhew Gillies, a Missoula farm service man, married Agnes Nottingham hours after receiving his time for bigamy. The union marked a second ceremony after a prior Aug 5 wedding in Missoula and a St Paul honeymoon when he was jailed on bigamy charges filed by a former wife. Gillies sought divorce in Butte citing his wife’s Philadelphia residence and noncooperation.
In Epplen May 11 fighting continues in Ratibor Kosel and Rosenberg despite Adelbert Korfanty agreeing the Polish forces will observe an armistice during peace talks. Polish consul general Daniel Kreszyski warned communications delays may keep troops fighting until they learn of the agreement. He noted unsure demands but seeks greater administration of Upper Silesia.

A witness was arrested by the sheriff after testifying, while others faced questions on gambling, bootlegging, and informant payments. Mme Marie Curie arrives in New York with her two daughters aboard the Olympic to receive one gram of radium from President Harding for cancer research. Curie, Nobel laureate, states radium is a cure when applied properly, as crowds honor her and officials extend diplomatic courtesies during her U.S. tour through Chicago Washington Philadelphia and other cities before sailing June 25.
