A vintage recipe for a jelly roll using sifted flours, baking powder, grated lemon rind, eggs and sugar. It instructs beating eggs and sugar until light, folding in flour, adding milk, and baking in a buttered pan. The roll is filled with jelly, rolled while warm, and dusted with powdered sugar.
An advertisement recounts scalp problems including dandruff, itching, and hair loss treated with Cuticura Soap Ointment and Shampoo. It quotes testimonials from W. K. Heads of Bay 21,10 Gothcare Soap and Ointment, and promotes free samples and a 22 page book by sending a postcard to Cuticura.
In Butte last night two masked youths shot Harry Drumm assistant clerk of the United States district council and Thom as Wallet secretary of the Butter Exchange at the Montana and Platinum corner. Drumm is critically wounded and Wallet is also severely injured. Dr P H McCarthy operated at St James hospital as Drumm lingered, while police hunted the pair who fled south after the cold blooded attack.

George McKenzie 44% of Walnut Street died 11 days after his legs were crushed in the engine room.
