Immigration probe into Miss MacSwiney over passport claim

The immigration bureau opened an inquiry into statements by Irish Republican worker Miss Mary MacSwiney claiming she arrived in the United States about January 24 on a British passport. Ellis Island records of ships entering late January will be checked for her name on passenger or employer lists. Officials say there is no evidence she is in the country illegally, but fraud would send the case to the Justice Department for prosecution under the passport act.
