Sub-Agent W. J. Allen of the Fort Belknap Agency is killed by Charles Perry and Robert McDonald is fatally beaten by W. E. Ritchie in a shocking incident reported from the agency. Police investigations await further details and charges.
Great Falls reports one man dead and another dying after two gun incidents in northern Montana. Allen, sub-agent at Warm Springs Creek, was killed by Charles Perry in a possible self defense quarrel tied to family matters. Perry surrendered as authorities move in.
London reports cautious optimism over Boer leaders seeking peace. Officials doubt Dewet and Delarey will surrender, while Kitchener may allow safe conduct for talks with Steyn. Markets react positively as word of possible peace proposals spreads.
The Daily Chronicle says an armistice is arranged during Schaikburger’s mission to Dewet with hostilities suspended against Dewet Delarey and Botha. Generals agree to honor the armistice until envoys return. Envoys may confer with Lord Kitchener after reporting results, though no second meeting is set.

Shamokin Pa March 24 The United Mine Workers districts 1 7 and 9 plan a provisional strike date to be set by the executive boards pending federal civic federation intervention. President Mitchell warned a strike seems imminent as coal operators refuse talks, while the federation offers mediation to resolve grievances such as shorter work days and higher wages.
Richard Rock known as Dick Rock will be buried near his Henry's Lake Idaho home in an unostentatious funeral. Survived by a widow with no children, his ranch and zoological pet herd may be sold or kept by Mrs. Rock. Rock died after being gored by a buffalo bull in the corral.
Judge Clements delays death for the man who conspired to kill his father. The defendant may prepare until Friday of next week before the gallows set date.
Clinton Dotson is scheduled for execution by hanging on April 4 in Helena after the Montana supreme court denied his appeal. Judge J M Clements formally set the date, noting Dotson’s 1991 murder conviction alongside James Fleming. Dotson showed no emotion, retired to his cell, and resumed smoking.
Judge Napton sentenced Joseph C. Hunter to 99 years in state prison at hard labor for the murder of H. O. Walbridge. Hunter offered no defense. Sheriff Metcalf to transfer to Deer Lodge tomorrow. Jury split on first verdict, with some fearing a new trial and additional costs. Hunter claims conviction on prejudiced evidence and holds resentment toward his daughter.
Thomas J. Wilson faces murder charges in the Levi C Johnson case from Nov 27. A jury panel was being formed with 26 jurors, 15 excused for cause, and one peremptory challenge by each side. The defense seeks to remove Granite Bi metallic employees amid claims of self defense and disparity in size.
Special Dispatch reports Mrs. Charlotte Koch a pioneer woman among Helena and Last Chance settlers died from cancer at 67. A German native who came to America at 15, she reached Aldergulch in 1864 and Last Chance the following spring. Survived by four sons and three daughters. sons are ranchmen on the Blackfoot. Daughters located in Helena and Missouri. Funeral postponed until a daughter arrives.
