A spring freshet clogged the Washoe park spring intake at the state fish hatchery. Mrs. J. H. Brunson alerted anglers club members and directed efforts to keep water moving while R. A. Baker cleared the intake. The team saved 3,000,000 eastern brook fingerlings and 2,000 albino trout spawn.
James O Donnell led after the second round of the pinochle tournament under Anaconda council No 882 Knights of Columbus with 5970 points. Fred Spellman followed with 5500, Ed Marsh and Gerald Kelly tied at 5410, while P J Fitzgerald led other scores at 6210 and William Quinn 5360.
Under Sheriff Joe Henault and deputies raided Nick Trbovich’s home on East Park Avenue last evening seizing 10 gallons whiskey 3 gallons moonshine 12 quarts brandy 12 quarts Irish Moss whiskey 4 gallons Dago Red wine and 50 gallons home made wine. Trbovich arrested then released on 250 cash bond to safeguard money believed in the house. Police deem the raid one of Anaconda’s most successful since prohibition began.
Catherine Manahan of Butte widow of Cornelius Manahan who died at the Nettie mine will receive a lump sum of 4225 from the Anaconda Copper Mining Company as compensation. The state industrial accident board authorized the settlement today.
Helena March 23. State accountant R J Lemert estimates the 1920 tax yield from an assessed base at 1 500 000. Governor Stewart asked for the estimate to inform general fund appropriations effective March 1 1920. The 1920 21 budget totals 2 945 896 76 dollars.
