Can't Collect for Cattle Slaughtered by Indians
Washington March 21 Echoes of the Sioux uprising led by Sitting Bull in 1890 were heard today in the supreme court of the United States when two cattle companies which lost thousands of cattle in Indian raids abandoned appeals from suits brought in the court of claims to recover from the government. The court of claims held that the Indians were not in amity with the federal government at the time the cattle were taken and, therefore, under the statute the companies were not entitled to recover.
