House OKs 16 new Navy ships and aims for arms talks

The U S House approved building 15 cruisers of 10 000 tons each and one aircraft carrier of 13 800 tons at an estimated cost of 274 million dollars. The bill passed 287 to 57 and now goes to the Senate.

Reed Sentenced for Dynamite Act In Illinois

Hiram Reed was sentenced to one to 20 years in prison after a judge denied a new trial motion. Ninety days were granted for appeal preparation, and bonds increased to 7500 dollars. Miss Iola Bradford, injured in the Dec 1 explosion, filed a 25000 dollar damage suit. Reed admitted paternity of Bradford's unborn child and confessed placing the dynamite to avoid marriage.

Levi Wild Injured in Hit and Run Near Silver Bow Club

Levi Wild, 82, was struck by an unidentified car while leaving the Silver Bow club on West Granite street in Butte. He suffered a severely lacerated leg, possible fracture, head gash, and facial and bodily injuries, but was not in serious condition at Murray hospital. Police sought witnesses and license plate information.

Road Work to Begin Soon in Butte Region

The Montana highway commission plans spring road construction in the Butte and Anaconda district. Homer Smith, resident engineer, says contracts for a viaduct over the Great Northern railway on the Butte Meade rville road and for a bridge over Silver Bow creek will be let Wednesday in Helena. Construction will start after contracting.
