Transfer of County Funds Illegal Method Questioned
County commissioners submitted reports to the county attorney to seek an opinion on the legality of transfers. The opinion states such transfers cannot be made with or without the commissioner's order. Chairman Yablan says the opinion is favorable to the commissioners. Treasurer Pack et comments that transfers followed long standing custom and asserts funds were managed properly. The quarterly treasurer’s report remains held up as commissioners refuse to sign it, delaying state submission. State examiner A. J. McIvors will study the dispute but will not release findings from Butte.
