Grain and Stock Review Highlights Rail and Oil Shares
The weekly stock review notes an active market with gains in oil and railroad securities. January carrier results were the best since 1916, boosted by dividend increases and potential rail consolidations. Fed action and a calmer outlook suggest a rising money rate trend while overall business remains favorable with goods distribution ahead of last year. The grain section describes price advances in wheat and mentions price parity issues with Liverpool and Argentina.

Market outlook weighs on grains amid scarce supplies
A cautious forecast notes demand over the next four months will shape speculative markets as wheat draws attention from dwindling U S stocks and foreign imports. It cites Russia and Argentina as sources for flour and wheat while noting rains improve crops and winter droughts threaten later distress. Corn, oats, and rye face uneven demand with long bull spreads and light farmer reserves, yet oats appear cheap as cash demand remains slow and stocks fall.
