The Montana supreme court held that the punishment feature of the anti gambling law allowing imprisonment until fines are paid is not unconstitutional and that the terms paid and satisfied mean the same. The ruling affirms a $100 fine or jail until satisfied for T O Towner and declines concern over costs in the judgment.
A British parliamentary paper exposes the remount department in South Africa as repeatedly failing to meet demand. It details American mules praised as superb workers, while horses varied in quality. Dispatches show front line appeals for more remounts, with ministers repeatedly urged to curb or increase shipments as the campaign wore on.

Andrew Nelson, about 35, was killed at his South Third street home in Missoula when he touched a faulty electrical wire while damp. At the close of the Elks secret session in Great Falls a social hour honored J C Patterson former chief engineer of the Montana Central who departs Wednesday for the East to take a better position.
