March 1 report from Pittsburg notes Allegheny river flood marks to 25 feet with water invading all low districts. Mills, factories, and rail lines suspend operations leaving thousands idle while several fatalities occur in Spring Hill Kutztown and St Clair as the Schuylkill and Lehigh valleys suffer widespread destruction and disruption.
Philadelphia reports the Schuylkill River flood as the largest in years with 120 miles of damage and extensive property loss. Ice melt and 24 hours of heavy rain caused rapid rises, cutting telegraph lines and washing out tracks while hundreds of animals drowned at abattoir yards and city bridges were at risk.

Henry Cower of Kansas City sues in district court for 146606.50 claiming eight promissory notes are due. The trust company, a Topeka institution led by president T. B. Sweet, has been in receivership for two years. Four notes were by Montana Land and Water Co and later sold to Flower. four more by Powers County Land and Irrigation Co, a branch of the Montana company, and also held by Flower.
