Increase in rates to Butte merchants and freight shift
R E Piper of Western Transit says Great Lakes freight cuts force longer rail hauls for Montana merchants. New York Central runoff requires water routes to end by Dec 1, raising costs per hundred on small carload lots. He warns higher freight prices hit Butte and Montana shippers as independents struggle to move goods.

Miners' Union Wins Custody in High Court Ruling
The Supreme Court issued a sweeping order transferring all property of the Butte Miners' Union No. 1 to the local union, ousting the Western Federation of Miners. The order, signed by Chief Justice Branily, requires the Federation and officials to show cause why a writ of supervisory control should not be issued, voids district court proceedings over union property, and directs restoration of union assets to the Butte union. The June 12 order, aligned with Judge McGllenan's ruling, had previously favored the Federation, ordering the local officers to turn over books and control to Guy Miller for Charles H. Moyer.

Hard Water Effects on Fast Boats and High Water Pressure
A discussion on the dangers of hard water at high speeds for hydroplanes and vessels. It explains water’s resistance at extreme velocities, likening it to solid metal and noting the impossibility of cutting through a powerful hydraulic jet. The analogy extends to a swordsman striking a high headwater stream, where the blade would be shattered.
