Butte City Considers Revenue Measures At Finance Conference
A conference among acting Mayor Nerny City Attorney Maury City Treasurer Sigvin and other officials plus mining interests and bank representatives discussed increasing city revenue to ease heavy indebtedness. Attorney Kelley outlined mining tax concepts and license issues noting ore value rather than surface or improvements as the taxation base, and Raborg of the Savings Bank urged raising at least 175000 annually. Saloon license allocations and city county government consolidation were also debated but no action taken.
