Advertising Pays In Distribution Kiwanis Talk

John Condon of the Pacific Coast Advertising association told Kiwanis members that newspapers are a modern distribution utility. He cited $1.3 billion spent on U.S. advertising moving $40 billion in goods, and warned that 45 percent of ad value is wasted due to weak sales force and poor in-store follow-up. Tom Davis reported on the St. Louis Rotary convention and the international element. The Rotary, vacation school at Floral Park, and next week’s break due to July 4 were noted, with Horace Merkle presiding. The American showcased Grandma’s Boy and a mix of comedy, philosophy, romance, and strong performances with Helen Roberts.
