The trial of A C Townley and Joseph Gilbert for conspiring to advocate sedition began in Jackson Minnesota with Townley present. Witnesses described speeches since 1917 and the defense indicated they may call Townley and Gilbert to testify as a test of loyalty and patriotism amid the nonpartisan league activity during wartime.
