Twin Bridges June 26 Special Dispatch to the Standard reports former Mayor Thompson returning from Dillon saying surveyors were camped 10 miles from Dillon and at least three miles east of camp. The crew, possibly Short Line, is said to have left the tracks near the roundhouse while Gilmore & Pittsburg may depart from another quarter. If it is the Short Line they follow a different grade to Apex hill. The current line lies east of the Beaverhead river and several miles inland. Point of Rocks could be reached in a day or two, indicating whether the route goes down the valley to Twin Bridges or cuts toward the Big Hole and Melrose.
