Washington reports that German efforts seem focused on Italy as the Austrians falter and Franco‑German actions shift. Officers say the Italian front may decide the western war, with German plans hampered by deployment to Italy and American aid arriving to aid General Foch.
Premier Lloyd George urged patience and warned of possible shocks in the coming days as Austro-Hungarian forces fall back. He praised American troops in France and stressed Britain will stand with allied efforts while cautioning about Russian and central power setbacks.
In rpool Ohio on June 2 a mother killed her four children by slashing throats with a razor and then attempted suicide. She is in a Salem hospital and expected to live.

Missoula June 2 diocesan convention of the church of Montana decided to elect a Dishon suffragen to assist Bishop W. F. Faber and as a first step toward eventual division of the diocese. The shop suffragen, who will be named by the convention tomorrow, will have almost exclusive jurisdiction over the 22 counties which will form the a Bishop Faber asked for the appointment of a suffragen bishop after the convention, meeting as a committee of the whole, had approved the plan.
Chicago June 24. Ten percent of American soldiers killed in action in France were Poles, though Poles make up only four percent of the U.S. population. The Polish statistical office announced the figure today and the information has been sent to the government.
A massive parade drew about seven thousand participants from Dow County in a wartime loyalty display. Spectators cheered as Belgian and Italian flags appeared, with many wearing hats symbolizing allied nations.
