William J Laird is Dead at Fort Worth Texas
News arrived in Butte of the death of William J Laird at Fort Worth Texas. He was the eldest son of the late Joseph Laird, longtime superintendent of the Mountain Co group of the Amalgamated properties. He was a machinist and former foreman of a machine shop. Survived by his mother Mrs Joseph Laird three sisters Cassie Josephine and Helen and three brothers Frank Rank John and George. Frank left for Fort Worth to bring the body to Butte for burial.

Jury Impaneled to Try Sutherland for Murder
The second trial of John B. Sutherland on a charge of murder began in Judge Donlan's district court yesterday. A panel of jurors including F. C. Kuhn and John Lanite was drawn, with state representation by J. M. Tamb and W. Waneh and defense by Alexander Mackel and William Meyer. Sutherland and Kerr, roomers at the Rafferty house, quarreled over naval merits. Kerr, older, knocked Sutherland down, then Sutherland allegedly waited and struck Kerr with a rock in a dark hall, Kerr dying days later in a hospital.
