Under J J Hill leadership, the yards grow into a major U S shipbuilding hub with innovative hulls, bilge keels, and electric systems to serve trans Pacific routes to the Orient.

McMahon Cleared On One Charge. Second Trial Pending
Jerry McMahon, co defendant with George McDonald, was found not guilty on one charge of grand larceny. The state’s case failed to prove the charges against him, and the jury was instructed to render a verdict of not guilty. A second count remains, pending the McDonald case and involving additional alleged stock theft from Butte.

Slayer Buckner Disappearance Body Found Near R Bridge
In Columbia Missouri on June 23 the burned body of Arch Buckner was found in woods near R Bridge. Coroner inquest shows Buckner last seen with David Grant at William F Moore’s house. Grant left first. Buckner followed and shots were heard. Grant claimed he shot Buckner but gave no full explanation.
