Commissioners apportion rights across streams and canals including Farmers High Line and Low Line to protect senior rights, leaving younger claims arid. Ground is parched and little moisture remains after a week of extreme heat, a rare dry year for the region.

Brazil and Germany War Facts and German Colonists
At Brazil’s declaration of war on Germany on October 26, 1917 estimates place German colonists and their descendants in Brazil between 400,000 and 500,000, about one twentieth of the white population. They mainly lived in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina near the coast with Uruguay, in the far south. The region is described as favorable for the white population, distant from the equator.
