Fierena Jie Moritana counties last year spent over a million dollars on road and highway construction and repair, with bridges drawing nearly half a million. The total of warrants issued reached 1,692,787.86 dollars, per state highway secretary Georga FR Metlen. County totals vary, Clister leading, Fergus second, Fiathead third, Rore and Bilver Bew fourth, with Deer LeAny and Sass noting significant road and bridge spending.
Glendive reports confirm Fred Riunssen was killed by Policeman Jim Gower in Beach, N. D., during a pool hall disturbance. Gower, accusing Riunssen of defying an arrest, fired four times, the fourth striking Riunssen in the lungs and causing death within minutes. Neighbors say longstanding animosity existed between the men.

Agnes McLeod and Kenneth Hannah wed in Deer Lodge yesterday and will reside locally. George J. Burks, formerly a Granite County clerk, now in Deer Lodge, visited Philipsburg with family. Pamphlets from the public vice commission go to every water utilities company in Montana prescribing uniform account classifications, effective July. Future pamphlets will cover electric, telephone, gas, and other utilities.
District court opens suit by Nevada A. Purnger to annul marriage of his son Fred G. Farnam age 18 to Mabvel Farnum begun May 15 1913. Plaintiff claims the groom lacked legal consent and was underage at the time and that his parents did not consent to the union. License records allegedly show Farnam listed his age as 21.
In Big Timber on June 2, alderman D. H. Mareh resigned from Prest ward. D. R. Patterson was elected to fill the vacancy. The jail contract goes to D. T. Marsh for structure and fixtures at 1730 dollars. Steel work awarded to Barman Co. Detroit for 1200 dollars. Work to start immediately. Milson to assume new office Monday. Dr. Wearne returns from Butte after attending state dental meeting. Alfalfa Products plans a mill in Sweet Grass County east of town near sock yards, ready by Aug. 1. Hamilton reports Metesherry injured skidding logs near Stalkaha, treated at Hamilton hospital.
The city of Cincinnati opened depots at all firehouse stations to supply families unable to obtain coal due to the strike by wagon drivers and plant engineers. The engineers action halted several plants and reduced coal supply further.
Frederic Hi Mason, president of a Spokane wholesale hardware firm, collapsed and died after noon while playing golf at Countryside Country Club. The Pacific Northwest business leader, noted for his influence on freight rate debates, was prominent in regional commerce. Tests by Drs Wanwright and Nichols questioned coal dust and tuberculosis links, challenging prevailing views.
