Welcome Home Sam Perkins Honored At Tarkelson Ranch
Last Sunday a joyous gathering at the Tarkelson ranch in Dempsey welcomed Samuel Perkins home from the American expeditionary force in France. A country dinner followed lively games with guests including Mr and Mrs Stimanger Mr and Mrs Donich Mr and Mrs Martin and their children and Miss Mary Perkins of Deer Lodge.

Oro Fino district active spurs renewed mine interest
Local miners and Anaconda residents watch a surge of activity in the Oro Fino district east of Race Track. The Butte-rardine lines company has secured a lease and bond on the Champion mine and plans a drainage tunnel from Champion mountain to the lower workings to drain flooded shafts. An air compressor will speed development while ore is shipped from Race Frack to reduce haul distance. The A Kusta property adjoining Champion also shows signs of life with new claims and development. Historical notes on Champion recall its prosperous past and large workforce, with old dumps containing ore that may feed a future mill.
