Major Leases Open Big Romanza in Coeur d Alenes Copper Fields
Spokane June 17 One of the largest leases in the Kellogg area of the Coeur d Alenes was closed this week. DoW Price of Kellogg secured the Yankee Bay property on Big Creek for five years on the usual royalty basis. The Blake family owns Yankee Bay. the lease includes a 1500 foot tunnel planned to reach a rich ledge 600 feet below present workings. Four men will start work, with more as the project expands. Sidney Shonts and associates manage other leases there. The mine shows richer silver with deeper workings, and past shipments of 22 ton cars have yielded over 8500 in silver per load. The operation will employ a sizable crew and substantial equipment, moving from Coran to Willam J. Harris’s Westminster Hotel area for camp setup. Projections cite continued activity through the summer with several prospectors and investors backing the Rix Copper property and related holdings.
