The Circus Beautiful Arrives in Anaconda for Two Shows
The Sells Floto big show known as The Circus Beautiful arrives in Anaconda with a 2 PM matinee and an 8 PM night performance. A free street parade at 10:30 AM will travel a mile and a half from the circus grounds near the Butte Anaconda & Pacific station through downtown. The 53-car train set up a tent city covering 10 acres after arriving from Butte, where crowds packed recent performances. Manager Frank Tammen notes growing circus demand and explains modernization replacing old-time freak acts with straightforward shows. He recalls Prince Mungo, a washed-out wild-man stereotype, as an example of past quirks now replaced by fresh acts. The piece argues circuses draw adults as well as children, and praises the current tour’s clean, wholesome presentation and business practices, inviting readers to view the parade to gauge the upcoming performances.
